DRESS UP

There are shades of Metropolis in Peta Jones exhibition Rock/Paper/Scissors which opened at ccas Manuka last night. Peta’s imposing centre piece, a giant frock, dominates her  immersive environment that “emancipates culturally determined imagery by using naturally occuring patterns and textures”. With a bit of assistance from up-to-date digital technologies Peta’s work blends natural textures of rock formations with gothic architectonics creating a post modern Frankenstein a la Mary Shelly … (rather than Hammer Horror). There’s lots going on here so best to see it oneself at CCAS Manuka Gallery until Sept 6.
