The weather is great – at last – and that means its time for the annual Wine, Roses and Jazz Festival at Mount Majura Vineyard. It’s a picnic kind of day in the pleasant surroundings of the Vineyard and this year Mount Majura launched its very first bubbles. A thoroughly modern sparkling wine that doesn’t even mention méthode Champenoise except to say “The base wine was blended from Chardonnay (57%) and Pinot Noir (43%), while the second fermentation takes place in the bottle in the traditional manner.” It’s called Woolshed Creek Fizz 2008, the cork has been replaced with a stainless steel crown, the bottle tastefully decorated with a silver and black ribbon,  and it’s already  medal winner!  Serge organized the art component this year and selected sculptor Joel Bliss for a verandah and surrounds exhibition. What a brilliant choice  … Joel’s large scale works are  so perfect for this rustic environ you would think they just grew there.
