August 24

Andrew Moynihan has been in Canberra for a while now but his “virtuoso performance” My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, which opened at CCAS Manuka last night, still came as a bit of a surprise. He has spent time up north, read Brisbane and Alice Springs, where he has been exploring the poetry of country and returned with considerable authority. Inspired by diverse sources like the Arrernte people (Central Australia) and Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock Drew brings together a view that reflects both Indigneous and non Indigenous ways of understanding the land. This is a perceptive and highly polished exhibition that literally centres on Australia and its bound to impress audiences.  A winner!. At CCAS Manuka until 5 Spetember
