BIRDS BODIES AND POSSESSION
Yeah couldn’t think of a title for the post so the above is an assemblage of sorts. Its the last show of the year at CCAS with neat shows by Patsy Payne, Raquel Ormella and Arryn Snowball. Raquel’s video installation is the result of a residency in Japan but also her encounter with the terrifying Black Kite. These are birds that brazenly snatch food from the hands of babes (or anyone) and are known to break up anything from family picnics to out door parties. Feeders, however, doesn’t blame the birds entirely and Raquel notes that humans are scarcely innocent having made their own nests … in which they are also the Feeders. Arryn is an artist who does things just to see what happens and then he watches it, paints, films, photographs …. sticks in action on a rotating lazy susan or sun light moving across a notebook …. he can make drying paint look like the most exciting thing you e’er saw. Patsy Payne of course is one of the great local print makers who frequently strays in the name of innovation. This time she is working with steel, glass and and paper to produce dramatic works that create illusions of bodies floating in space. Feeders Raquel Ormella, Mirage Patsy Payne and Light Posseses Light Arryn Snowball at CCAS Gorman House. PLEASE NOTE the Christmas / New Year opening times CCAS Gorman House will close at 4pm on Saturday 15 December 2012 and reopen on Tuesday 15 January 2013.
