Its taken a good few days to get this Immediacy post together. So much for immediate … This was an exhibition of video works that happened last Saturday night immediately after or slightly overlapping the APT Up Late do. The Immediacy opening was always going to be a cracker because the show was curated by Jay Younger (photo below) and Beth Jackson who have always had their fingers on the pulse. It was also an opportunity for some of Brisbane’s coolest (and occasionally newest) artists to show their work when there is lots of visiting arty types in town. The exhibition took place in the street and in a studio so it had a great artist run feel about it and speaking plain, the punters just went for it. A wonderful night for the paparazzi who were very at home in Brisbane with lots of old mates around. Just like old times, trashy and proud. ( Went out with $15 and got completely written off – THANK YOU BRISBANE) Clearly a side of of the city that is sorely missed by the dearest departed. The photos aren’t great simply because the Immediacy party was …. hear that someone dropped the camera …. but hopefully these few modest pictures capture a little of the spirit of such a great night and show.
