GET FRESH

tee 1

At first it seemed unlikely that anyone would make the  9 AM opening at the Fresh Gallery in Otara. But to the enormous satisfaction of all they did ! It should be noted at this point that there was a very good turn out from over the ditch (Australia) in fact sometimes its hard to remember where one is. There was a warm musical welcome from the local people for Keg de Souza (Aus), Emory Douglas/Rigo 23/ Wayne Youle (US/PT/NZ), mounir fatmi (Fr/MA) and Makeshift.  Keg has nailed it again with a blow up dwelling made from  plastic table cloths with a tropicana flavour and other interesting products that reference the demography of South Auckland. Its an area that has had its problems over the years and yet with a large population of Pacific peoples many agree that it is one of New Zealand’s if not the world’s, most interesting spots. Outside Fresh there is the Otara Saturday Markets … so naturally a bit of shopping was in order to complete a perfect Saturday morning.
