Annika was at the opening of the November exhibitions down at Sawtooth ARI in Launceston on Friday night. A great time was had, and she managed to take a few snaps of some of the lovely folk at the opening. Christl Berg (TAS), Nancy Mauro-Flude (TAS) and Phoebe McDonald (QLD) had interesting solo exhibitions in the Project Space, New Media space and Front Gallery respectively, and the Middle Gallery held the impressive Tasmanian Portrait Prize 2013. Greg Leong was one of the judges of the Portrait Prize and gave an enthusiastic and entertaining walk through of the winners and what the judges were thinking when they awarded the prizes. As you can imagine, they felt very justified when subsequently Nik Lee (Runner-Up) was named the winner of the Macquarie Digital Portrait Award at the NPG. Annika didn’t get to see Sawtooth Director Marisa Molin and former Director and Canberra favourite Fernando do Campo at the opening but was thrilled to catch up with both of them later in the night, so they get a special mention here.
