Adelaide based curator Eleanor Schiccitano visited Canberra yesterday on a kind of reconnaissance mission, checking out the scene ahead of her up coming show at CCAS. On men with James Tylor, Dale Harding, Paul Sloane and Will French is one of the exhibitions up next at CCAS and in different ways each artist investigates contemporary masculinity and Australia’s history of colonisation. While Eleanor had to return to Adelaide on the 6.00pm flight it was a big day as we went to Tony Albert’s talk at the Australian War Memorial and then to Old Masters the incredible exhibition of bark paintings from the 1940s to 1980s at the National Museum of Australia. Its free this week – don’t miss it. Returning to CCAS some of the details for the exhibition were fine tuned and then the fire alarms required that Gorman House Art Centre be evacuated. Just in time to get Eleanor to the airport. Really looking forward to her show which opens August 22. Here are a couple of lovely photos of Sabrina and Eleanor looking like new besties.
