Angela Parragi’s Anatomy of Life is to some degree in response to her father’s heart attack and triple by pass surgery. Each work looks at the myocardial infarction from a different point of view sometimes emotional and at others purely physical. All adds up, however, to an experience of gothic grandeur as death stalks her subject. Angela brings together drawings and paintings of anatomical details and information with variously large scale figurative paintings reminiscent of the saintly images of classical times. Perhaps its not a fun afternoon’s entertainment but with a hint of martyrdom its compelling nonetheless. At CCAS Manuka until August 2.
