SURFACE TENSIONS

Shellaine has done it again ! Done what I hear you ask … Well Surface Tensions is a mind boggling show of work for which the only description is “out there”. If one were to describe a work it would sound far fetched. Yes there is an Oriental current as Shellaine appreciates the influence of kitschy encounters on her recent residency in Thailand and travel throughout China and Japan. Her abstract oil paintings on perspex that reference the spirit houses found throughout Thailand and the floating acrylic clouds  engraved with traditional Chinese and Japanese motifs are but two examples of the Godbold spectacle. Documentation doesn’t do this show justice so you gotta actually go. EXCELLENT opening with very nice people and some breathtakingly silly conversation – new lows were reached in fact. And the husband cakes made a refreshing change from chips and dips. Surface Tensions at CCAS Manuka until 9 November.
