CCAS STUDIO RESIDENTS 2015
The announcement of the CCAS Studio Residents is always eagerly awaited and 2015 is no exception so lets cut to the chase. In no particular order they are : Hayley Lander (Painting), Joel Arthur (Painting), Chris Burton (Printmedia), Kael Stasce (Painting), Isobel Rayson (Sculpture) and Deirdre Pierce (Sculpture). Congratulations to all and needless to say we are really looking forward to having them around next year very much !
In addition this year CCAS has taken the unprecedented step of offering mega talented Amelia Zaraftis (Sculpture) an exhibition in the Gorman House Art Centre galleries. Congratulations Amelia !
And there’s more …. CCAS is also auspicing an artsACT grant for a mentoring program which it will also support in various ways throughout the year. This excellent program comes thanks to the hard work and vision of Hannah Quinlivan. The successful emerging artists will receive support from an experienced mentor plus three thousand dollars to go towards their projects. The mentors and mentees are : Samantha Small and Isobel Rayson, Peter Vandermark and Millan Pintos-Lopez, Byrd and Kael Stasce, Megan Jackson and Ruby Berry.
All of this is part of the ANU School of Art’s Emerging Artists Support Scheme where the Canberra community literally comes to the party and takes on some of the most talented graduates with exhibitions, subscriptions and professional support. This scheme is (we believe) unique in Australia and one of the many things that makes the Canberra arts community great.
