DAMN

Annika

Annika

The is a hint of the outsider in Annika Harding’s Damn which opened at CCAS City last night. Neither over stated or contrived Annika’s works are most notable for their sincerity and simplicity. She is very able to make an her political/environmental point without pretension or fanfare and this is her strength … concise comments about important things. As is the way of the outsider Annika nails it by modest means – beautifully textured oils and spray paint on small pieces of corrugated card board with rough edges.  And there are some sardonic texts like OOPS, OMG and DAMN (which have proved to be very popular judging by opening night sales). Damn explores landscapes in various stages of destruction, construction and activity. These raw and vivid paintings recycle and reconstruct images from ventures into managing the environment, including large-scale projects aimed at shaping the environment to man’s needs at the time. DAMN at CCAS CITY until 27 June …. and don’t forget that art works shown here are very affordable
