Lizzie Halls weetbix bricks (or are they wheatbrix!) raise some interesting issues. Aussie kids (we were and probably still are told) are weetbix kids. While almost good enough to eat they do make for an impressive if slightly odd installation that calls to question the whole business of a Australia “protecting” itself from anything perceived to be too foreign. These bricks seem to be positioned between the way we were and what we have become. The bricks have quite a complex story when its all said and done so don’t take it from me. Yolande Norris has written a fantastic essay that covers Lizzie’s ideas from all angles Link below). In the mean time Shelter Object is a CCAS MANUKA until 27 September.
