CCAS / RUSSELL KENNEDY LAWYERS STUDIO RESIDENCIES 2016
Another year has passed us by and thus there is a new batch of talented studio residents. You might notice the name has changed slightly as we grow up and partner with fabulous Russell Kennedy Lawyers. Four awards were awarded this year as part of the ANU School of Arts Emerging Artists Support Scheme (EASS) to Cat Mueller (Painting), Alycia Moffatt (Print Media and Drawing), Tom Buckland (Sculpture) and Janis Lejins (Photography and Media Arts). Outside EASS two awards went to former graduates of Photography and Media Arts Josh Owen and Kon Kudo. A big congratulations to all for a very successful year and a special thanks goes to everyone who applied. Unfortunately we can only have six and there are many more deserving people – but remember there are many things you can do to be involved ! There was a second award this year the CCAS / Canberra City Framing Exhibition Award in the sought after CCAS CITY space and those went to Sanne Koelemij. All up the award night was particularly fun this year with a leaner meaner, fast and furious, award ceremony. MCs Dennis Ferris Head, School of Art and Dr. Robert Wellington from Art History and Art Theory did a fantastic job … So good intact that CCAS staff managed to keep their mouths shut for most of the ceremony. David Broker (CCAS) and Liana Westcott (Russell Kennedy Lawyers) handed out the awards in what is always a joyful exchange. Then we all went to the bar … for the beginning of a very long night.
