CIT CLASSES OF 15
Jenna Poore (pictured below) was awarded with an exhibition at CCAS City for her work in the Visual Arts Diploma course at Canberra Institute of Technology. 2016 will be a busy year as Jenna and several other graduates of this course head for the ANU School of Art. CCAS Director David Broker opened the exhibition with an entertaining speech that addressed the “Advantages of being an artist” – not the longest speech. Have to say that this was one of the loveliest openings EVER with the Cert 4 and Diploma groups eventually crossing over in the courtyard. An incredible spread with lots of wine (and beers) created a very cordial environment enhanced by the celebratory atmosphere that goes with completing courses. What’s really great about CIT is that students are just starting out – very young in many cases – and during the time of study they make great leaps forward. There is an honesty and vitality in the work as everyone works through issues and discovers where their artworks might take them. In the end one feels very positive about new generations of artists on the rise and a special mention must go to the Cert 4 group who have excelled. Alex and David from CCAS and Annika from ANCA have spent the last couple of days assessing and advising the students and all up it has been a very rewarding experience for all involved. Congratulations to everyone in the Cert 4 and Diploma classes ….. Have to confess I left late-ish with some serious warm and fuzzies …. and ripper photographs !
