FOUNDATIONS OF PLACE
Here are three belated photographs taken at the opening of Haley Lander’s exhibition Foundations of Place which has just finished at CCAS Manuka. In a short time Haley has become a bit of a local legend with work that is meticulously produced and often experimental, in other words, just when you think Haley has settled onto one way of working she comes up with something completely different. This show focuses on the individuals’ humble actions to organise nature and the ways it gives rise to a sense of familiarity, security, and ultimately connection to the land that they inhabit. The Foundations of Place is a series of still life paintings feature pruned branches from local gardens. We will be hearing a lot more about Haley so stay tuned ….
