THE DIVIDED WORKS
Here are a couple of snaperoos from Jas Hugonnet’s exhibition The divided works which opened last night at CCAS Manuka. Jas would have been one of those kids that was “good with his hands” and it shows in artwork where the process of construction is revealed by the finished piece. He makes it look easy to pull off the the precision required for difficult minimal works that have a hint of grunge and/or diy. The horizon line that runs around the gallery gives a sense of order and continuity to the painted and stressed materials – all of which are familiar but in the context of this exhibition – not so much. The divided works are straight down the line and you can see them at CCAS Manuka until 5 June.
