NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION

National Day of Action (Arts)

Having decided there wasn’t enough action in Canberra on the Arts National Day of Action, CCAS’s contribution culminated in an impromptu (not entirely legal as it turned out) protest at Parliament House. Organisation was fast and furious but nonetheless effective as colourful placards offset the greyest skies. And if nothing else, Parliament House makes for a spectacular protest backdrop. Instant gravity. Over the course of the day protests happened across the country of course as artists and organisations flooded social media with the message that the arts are an important element of life in Australia and we think they are just as important – as sport for example. Friday 18 June was a great day for artists and arts organisation whose campaign trended convincingly on Twitter for the entire day. Thanks to everyone who dropped tools Friday arvo and headed for Capital Hill. For more information on events past, present and future check the links below. And remember its not over ….
