LOVE IS IN THE AIR
Well another fab CCAS Members Show has been and gone with a whole bunch of new artists are feeling like winners. The Love is in the Air theme brought them out of the woodwork this year with some brilliant ideas, some pretty cheesy romance and your inevitable cynics – like Sam Small’s internet brides from EBAY and Millan Pintos Lopez’s love trap. The LOVEly Monika McInerey (Creative Programs Director at Belconnen Art Centre) judged and she selected Fly me to the moon by Elizabeth Faul as the winning work. The first runner up was Mix Tape (self destruct) by Tom Buckland a beautiful and amusing work that actually unravels itself …. Second runner up and winner of the Prosecco handbag and chocolates was Caren Florance for #Foreva 1, 2, 3, 4. This novelty award couldn’t have gone to a more appreciative person and she strode of into the night clutching her prize. A special award went to Byrd for winning the most awards in the history of the members show – this is kind of like a lifetime achievement award. He received an enormous box of chocolates because his children have come to expect chocolates – over the years. After the awards a merry old time was had by all and it was very hard to close up. And so turned another great page in the annals of members’ shows.
