HIGH RISE LOW RISE (CANBERRA)
NO need for another write up on High Rise Low Rise but needless to say the expanded show has meet with a very enthusiastic response in Canberra. Explaining the similarities common to Canberra and the Gold Coast proved to be a bit of a challenge at first … but after a while people started to come up with new ones, most importantly both cities are scorned by the rest of Australia, both having the power to make the rest of the country cringe with embarrassment. But on Friday night no one could have cared less what the nation thinks. With a bit more space than The Walls all of the artists showed extra work. The opening also doubled as a Christmas Party and gave us the opportunity to welcome our guests from the Goldie; Monique Montfroy, Claudia de Salvo and Chris Bennie, in typical CCAS style. As it turns out they are very photogenic so may of the photos are of Team Gold Coast with various Canberra folk. The Canberra contingent Kael Stasce, Millan Pintos-Lopez and Anja Loughhead are no strangers to the social pages. Anja had not been feeling so good so we left her alone for an evening. High Rise Low Rise is open until Saturday 18 December and reopens on 24th January to 11 February. And don’t forget there is an amazing show in the Cube by Anna Madeleine, Its called Currents and will change your view of the Internet as an efficient method of communications …. same opening dates as above.
And here is a pic of Anna whose show Currents is running concurrently with High rise Low Rise.
