Last night at CCAS Manuka Annika Harding launched Wayfinding, an exhibition of works on paper and wood (birch rounds representing Finland and yellow box rounds, Australia). The paintings can be seen to connect her experiences of diverse landscapes in both countries. Following an artists’ residency at The Arteles Creative Centre Finland 2106 Annika continues to commune with the land talking regular walks in the forests near her home. Throughout this exhibition we see references to rope trail markers used in the forests of Finland, a way finding method she has returned to Australia. These mark the directions of temporary new trails (an existential metaphor perhaps?) while contributing to an exhibition of delicate beauty and mystical engagement with nature. Find your way to CCAS Manuka – until June 10.
